Description

It is a church of Romanesque origin, but greatly expanded in the 18th century. It has a single nave with a barrel vault, closed by a smooth semicircular apse. The bell tower is small, with a single opening that accommodates a bell. The walls are built with well-cut ashlar masonry and correspond to the 12th century. There is also a double lancet window and a monolithic arch at the front of the nave, on a base of rows of ashlar stones (the subject of a recent excavation). In the apse, you can see how the construction changes: there are roughly hewn stones at the base, and higher up, there are cobblestones or stone and mortar. Due to floods, it became increasingly submerged, which led to the construction of a new, higher one. The sanctuary enclosure had an ornate portal with sculptural motifs very similar to those of the door of the church in Ger, which dates back to 1740. In the last quarter of the 20th century, the portal was acquired by a private individual and moved to Ventajola.
